SPECIAL SERVICES
Early Intervention – Prevention is better than cure. We provide early intervention to the identified children in the early stages of their lives to minimise risk factors. This has translated to immense progress in enhancing their skills.
Special Education – The ultimate aim of education is to make individuals independent. Most special students are dependent on parents or caregivers for their basic needs. Specialised teachers assess the needs and skills of these students, and provide them adequate support to equip them to lead their lives independently.
Individualized Education Programme (IEP) – IEP is planned for every child after assessing their abilities and needs, and the goals are fixed after discussions with parents, guiding them to perform follow-ups at homes.
Physiotherapy – Most individuals with special needs also have associated physical disabilities. We have physiotherapy specialists to enhance the mobility of children in order to perform their activities independently.
Speech Therapy – Speech impairments are often found in children having special needs. Specially-trained speech therapists provide therapy to them in order to facilitate better communication and expression of their feelings and thoughts.
Social Skills – Students with special needs face challenges in their daily social interactions with people and their surroundings. We groom their social skills so as to increase positive interactions with society.
Art & Craft – Students are supported in learning different forms of art and craft, which brings an aesthetic sense to their lives. An instructor with a Masters in Arts is associated with the team. Students learn how to make a variety of art and craft items like paper flowers, flower vases, diyas, canvas paintings, greeting cards, photo frames, wall decorations, etc.
Sports & Games – Experts in the field of sports train our students every day, who have participated in different tournaments to keep the flag of Tamanna flying high. Our students have bagged many achievements in the last year, including receiving the titles of national level champions in floor hockey and floor ball events, bocce, badminton, athletics and soft ball.
Dance & Drama – Teachers train students in dance and drama, for which a separate room has been assigned, and it contains all the necessary materials and equipment. The children spend an hour here every day, where they learn and enjoy to their heart’s content.
Music – Students learn and practice music during their scheduled time every day. This exercise calms their minds and helps them to focus on their activities.
Gardening – Each One Plant One – As part of co-curricular and leisure time activities, students learn to grow saplings and plants, which is an essential skill in caring for our environment. Every class waters the plants in the terrace garden regularly.
Exchange Programmes – The school conducts exchange programmes where our students host other children with special needs from different schools, who showcase their talents and learn from each other. Our students, accompanied by the staff, also visit other schools to participate in various events such as group dance, singing, teaching-learning material competition, etc., where they have won many prizes and hearts. Our students have also participated in Disability Day Sports at Bellary Stadium and ‘Sanskritika Sinchana’ at Chenga Reddy School, Bellary, among other events.
Vocational Training – The ultimate wish of parents is to see their children become independent and have financial liberty as well as the ability to learn and earn. To fulfil this dream, Tamanna is working to strengthen each and every individual’s abilities towards financial independence to earn by making paper covers and bags. Their intention is not only to earn but also to serve the earth by avoiding the usage of plastic bags and encourage society to use biodegradable products in everyday life.
Savings – Students are trained in making paper covers and bags, which are used in and around Vijayanagar. Each child at Tamanna school has his/her own bank account and the revenue earned on the sales of these bags is deposited to their accounts.
Achievements & Awards – Our students have bagged many medals and trophies in sports and cultural events conducted at various places, such as 1st prize in dance for students, prize for teaching-learning material in training students with special needs at ‘Sanskritika Sinchana’ at Chenga Reddy School, Bellary, etc.
