Tamanna school for Specially-abled Children was inaugurated on 9th February 2009, adding another feather to the OP Jindal Centre cap. The name Tamanna implies ‘desire’ & it is a carefully designed and nurturing school dedicated to the welfare of specially-abled children. It is the only school in Vijayanagar, Karnataka which caters to the needs of students with special needs, reaching the distant rural population around the JSW Steel plant. The school initially began with a humble strength of 4 children, but over time its strength has peaked to 96 children out of whom 3 have hearing impairments and 7 have autism. The facilitators and service personnel are well-trained, empathetic and dedicated, adding value to their work. The vision of the school is that all special children will have the opportunities to fulfil their individual potentials and lead independent lives with self-respect and dignity.
