School Safety Note

At Jindal Vidya Mandir, we believe that the safety of students and staff members is of paramount importance. Next to home, the school is a place where students spend their maximum time, and therefore it is the prime responsibility and foremost duty of our school administration to create and provide a safe and orderly environment for our children. A secure, safe and comfortable environment allows children to learn to the best of their abilities, and is necessary to support their achievements. At JVM, we follow safety procedures and believe in instilling in the minds of our young ones the importance of following these procedures as well. Regular safety drills are planned and conducted with inputs and active participation from students, staff members and the management team.

Mock Fire Drill

A mock fire drill was conducted in collaboration with JSW Fire and Safety Department, JSW Hospital and Security Department in Jindal Vidya Mandir Salav school premises on 08 December 2018. It was planned based on a simple and efficient procedure which was specially designed for the premises in which it had to operate. The fire drill intended to ensure safety and quick thinking on the part of the students as well as the teachers and other care takers by means of training and rehearsal.

The main objective of the drill was that:

    • people who may be in danger act in a calm and orderly manner.
    • those with responsibilities carry out their tasks to ensure the safety of all concerned.
    • escape routes used in accordance with a predetermined and practiced plan.
    • evacuation of the building is achieved in a speedy and orderly manner.
    • people will react rationally when confronted with a fire or other emergency at school or elsewhere.

The school recognizes that fire safety is important for the simple reason that a large number of children are gathered at one place and a single fire can affect all of them. Most of the furniture in a class room such as chairs, tables and desks are made from wood, and these can easily catch fire. The chemistry lab which contains large quantities of flammable liquids is especially at risk. A fire in such places can go out of control and thus, fire safety in schools is an extremely important issue. Fire alarms are necessary and may save many lives in case of any crisis. Fire alarms are therefore placed at strategic points and checked regularly.
